It’s late, well actually it’s early. Almost 3 AM and I can’t sleep.

I haven’t been sleeping much lately because I’m so excited about the things that are taking place in our lives. The Miller family has been blessed and life keeps getting better.

We’ve made several hundred thousand dollars the last few years (insert the stupid disclaimer here, just cuz we’re making it doesn’t mean you will, cuz you might be lazy etc…) but money won’t make you happy.

It helps, but it won’t make you happy. Funny thing is I really am more excited about the future than I have ever been, and here’s the crazy part, we really don’t have to work! So why are we working?

We are more excited than we have ever been about helping people change their lives, and as we say quite frequently, you can get the rest of the story by reading the About Us page.

I’ve got 24 hours in a day and you’ve got 24 hours a day. I’ve been busy working on improving everything we already do, and adding even more fun, and profitable, stuff for us to do. What have you been doing? That isn’t meant to be hateful at all, it’s just the truth.

Back when I was broke and facing bankruptcy and foreclosure I was suffering from this downward spiral, kinda like when you flush the toilet, around and around and then down the drain. Pardon the potentially graphic illustration but you get the picture.

You probably got the picture more than you wanted to! Back then I was making bad decisions on top of bad decisions. I decided that I deserved to wallow in self pity, so I kept feeling worse, about everything. Why should that be a surprise?

These days I count among my closest friends some remarkable people. Not all of them are MILLIONAIRES, but some of them are! They help keep me focused on doing more and having more fun. They don’t have to push me into doing anything, I want to do more with my life.

What are you doing with your time? Success in MLM is a lot easier than most people think. Now don’t leave me a lot of nasty comments cuz you don’t like what I just wrote, work with me a little O.K.? What have you really decided to do lately.

I’m talking about the kind of thing that you decided to do that would cause you to stretch and grow and become more than what you are right now. Most people choose to fail in MLM. They decide that they are too smart, so they don’t listen to anybody and then they fail. Surprise surprise.

Some people decide that they don’t have the time to work their MLM business, so they quit. Well when I was broke and felt like a total loser (yes that’s where the former mlm loser came from, well that, and the fact that I had tried tons of MLM companies and failed at all of them!) it would have been easy to just give up and go back to watching TV all the time.

I’ve got a good friend who went through the same thing. He knew every episode of Star Trek by heart. Hated himself and hated life. Thought seriously about ending it all. But then a friend called and talked to him about the MLM company that would change his life forever. Pretty cool isn’t it? He had to make a decision to succeed, just as you have to make a decision to succeed.

My friend has 24 hours in a day, I have 24 hours in a day and you have 24 hours in a day. What have you decided to do with them?

Right now?

Seriously. Success is a decision. And so is failure.

P.S. If you really choose to succeed you will watch less TV and start to make sacrifices that may be uncomfortable. That’s O.K. because when you are making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year you can do whatever you please!

It’s a disease and it’s an epidemic.

MLM excusitis.

Common symptoms of MLM excusitis are complaints that you don’t have enough time or money or your upline is an idiot. When faced with this tragic disease it is important to seek help immediately. If not treated immediately this illness can lead to poor, if not dire financial consequences for the rest of your life. If that isn’t bad enough, MLM excusitis is extremely contagious.

99% of the people that fail in MLM suffer from MLM excusitis, and they typically have family and friends that suffer from the same disease. Amazingly enough these people rarely realize that they have it, claiming that it’s not their fault that they have failed.

As times goes on MLM excusitis only gets worse and in most cases will cause the person to quit MLM for life, failing to realize that the only likely cure for their poor financial situation is MLM itself.

Every time I turn around somebody is making an excuse why they can’t become successful. I don’t have enough money, or time, or education or nobody believes in me or, well you get the point. Excuses are everywhere.

A little more than a decade ago I was driving an ugly green Ford Probe with more than 100,000 miles and bald tires. I actually thought it was a cool car when I bought it, but anyway. I had been in Chicago doing a meeting with the owners of our MLM company (I was the MC) and I got this crazy idea to expand my business in Chicago.

Sounds like a good idea but I live in Dallas and I didn’t have the money to fly to Chicago so what the heck I’ll just drive… in an ugly car with more than 100,000 miles and bald tires! I didn’t really have the money to stay in a hotel so I had to drive by myself for 21 or 22 hours straight.

I met a nice lady in Chicago a few weeks earlier and she said that Chicago needed somebody like me (I was in the fake it till you make it mode at that time, cuz I was really really broke) and she offered to let me stay with her.

When I called to take her up on her offer she said “can’t you find somebody else?” Not exactly what you would call a warm welcome now was it? But I didn’t let that stop me, and so I was on my way to stay with a total stranger, a 60 year old woman on the south side of Chicago, that I had just met and had talked with for only 5 minutes!

Some people might call me bold, some might call me crazy and some might say that I’m stupid! Wait till you hear the whole story before you pass judgement. On that trip I recruited one guy and only one guy. Sounds like a waste of time and money but…

… that one guy has become massively successful earning more than $100,000 a year for himself and in the process has made me somewhere around $750,000! Now who’s laughing?

I’m sure that I’m not the only person in the history of MLM to drive nonstop for more than 21 hours in a broken down ugly car with 100,000 miles and bald tires and stay with a woman they had just met to work in a city where they didn’t have a single appointment on the hopes that it would payoff!

Yeah I know that was one long sentence but hey when you want something bad enough you’re willing to break a few rules to get it, right?

Most people won’t drive 30 or 40 minutes to work their MLM business because although they may say they want to become successful, how bad do they really want it? How far is to far to drive if it will change your life forever?

That trip to Chicago more than a decade ago has altered the course of my life and the lives of the people that I am closest to. What if? What if the thought of driving 986 miles nonstop was too much and I never went to Chicago. How many lives would have been affected?

When you want what you have never had you must be willing to do what you have never done!

Well, Scott, I’ll do that next tomorrow or next week, or next month but first I have to _______.

Everybody’s got an excuse and excuses are kinda like belly buttons, everybody has one and they all pretty much stink! Gotta be honest with you, I don’t know that I have ever really smelled a belly button, but I think they all stink.

No wonder so many people fail in MLM over and over and over again. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. People go from one MLM failure to another and they blaim everybody but themselves.

Let’s say that you’ve been in several MLM companies and failed in several of them. What’s the one common denominator? You!!! You’ve probably had different uplines and different compensation plans and different products or services but you are the thing that remains constant in all of the miserable failures.

I know what I’m talking about because I was one massive MLM failure so the next company I reluctantly got involved in was going to be the LAST company I was ever going to be involved in. Actually I said that before I got involved in the company that we’re still with today, but that’s another story for another blog post!

Thankfully we became successful beyond our wildest dreams but the real reason behind our success was simple, we had to change. So many people fail in MLM time after time, because they think that they can be successful with the skillset that they came into MLM with.

So let’s say that you know you need to improve, now here cones the hard part, if you wait until you really know what you’re doing you will fail! Here’s what most people do, well I’ve got to no more about the compensation plan, and I need to know more about the product and after I do all of that I’ve got to organize my work space and then….

EXCUSES EXCUSES EXCUSES!

Another way to put it is… Ready, Aim, Aim, Aim, Aim, Aim, Aim, Aim, Aim…

You don’t have to know everything about the company and you don’t have to know everything about the product and you don’t have to know EVERYTHING about ANYTHING! I’m sorry, I know I’m shouting but that mindset is the exact reason so many people fail in MLM.

Here’s what you really need to do… Ready, Fire! You can aim later.
